I had to play more consistent.” <br />Macaluso frustsized herself after being up 3-0 in the first set to Schmitz before the Willard insolentman came back. With a no-tutoring regulation in impact for the semifinals, Macaluso was on her own, unable to bounce her frustrations off Coach Bill MacArthur or receiving any reassurance. <br />“I tried talking to myself and calm down,” Macaluso said. “I told myself that every point wasn&rsquo;t the end of the world. I had to go one point at all times.” <br />Both players were comfortable playing from the baselength, sending lasers back over the net to each other, both utilizing their backhands with power for the almost the entire match. <br />“That was where we stayed,” Macaluso said. “I should have tried to deviate it up and bring her in.” <br />Greene had the option of playing singles, but teamed up with senior classmate Brayden for their run to the Section II semifinals. <br />“I chose to play doubles with her,” Greene said. “It was up in the air and I chose doubles, hoping to do well and have fun.” <br />Brayden played doubles all year long and welcomed Greene as a new doubles sectionner.
