Nail fungus can be embarrassing, especially during warmer weather when its common to have bear feat and wear open-toed shoes. However, discoloured, unhealthy lucking nails are not only unsightly, they can be painful as well. Yet many people, despite their look and the pain, ignore them for many years. They do this simply because they didn't know what to do about it.
But it can get worse. Nail fungus can spread to other nails or your skin nad can be accompanied by a secondary bacteria or yeast infections in the nail bed. This effectively can cause permanent damage if left untreated.
If you are one of these people you are not alone. It has been estimated, through surveys, that over 35 million people world wide have problems with their nails in one form or another. Nail fungus doesn't discriminate between gender, race or wealth, but does affect the lifestyles of everyone it affects.
Obviously finger nail infections are commonly acted upon quickly, long before the infection takes a stronghold or advances on to infect other nails or even surrounding skin. This is not the case with toe nail fungus due to the fact that the majority of the year, they are covered with socks/stockings and footwear. "Out of sight, out of mind" springing to mind. Most finger nail solutions will require soaking for some considerable time, and this may be totally impractical when you are working all day.
Far be it for me to suggest that home made remedies don't work, after all there is nothing to lose as they don't appear to have any side effects. For instance "Vicks" Vapour rub, vinegar solutions and other bizarre home remedies appear to work for some but not for others. Also the response time for such "treatments" can vary dramatically from person to person, varying from a matter of weeks to well over a year. Having said that even prescribed medication doesn't fair much better.
For us, Halloween was here. Some of the older folks were concerned about tomorrow night, which was really Halloween night. We had been told, juicy bracelet, "Tomorrow night you are not leaving this house." The story was the same with all of us. There was a conspiracy among the older folks. They had it in their heads to spoil our tricking, but our plans were already made, and we had taken what our folks had said into account. We would do our tricking on this night, the night before Halloween and forget about the treats of tomorrow night. Our plan was for all of us to get out of the house as quickly as we could after supper. If your folks raised suspicions, then you were to sneak out before supper. After all, what is a meal missed when the fun of Halloween was about to begin?
Just before supper, Wizzer gave our signal then hollered for me from outside the kitchen door just like we had planned. Mom never could say no to Wizzer. I had never told Wizzer about this, but one day I had heard Mom say that she felt sorry for him, what with him being a change of life baby and all. It wasn't my intent to spy on her. This particular conversation was overheard at one of her gabfests with her friend Julia. I was only trying to do what I had been trying to do with no luck at all for as long as I could remember. Namely, it was to see Mrs. Wetzel sleeping and doing something that took some watching and being careful. Just now, they was pitting and peeling peaches and getting them ready for canning.
