True Blood Sucker Punch: Season 3, Ep. 8
Welcome to Sucker Punch, the only blog postthat ranks the gaudiest moments on this weeks episode of True Blood dvd. True Blood Seasons 1-3 DVD Box SetFormat: Support both NTSC & PAL Seasons: Season 3
Edition: 6-Disc Set
Category: Drama | Fantasy | Horror Region: Region Free C You can enjoy it wherever you are Language: English with removable subtitles Aspect Ratio: 1. 78: 1 Weight: 0. 50kg Condition: Brand new factory sealedTrue Blood dvd races back to form with Nighton the Sun, an episode that returns us to the seasons fascination with theunavoidable sacrifice of love. This time, though, the iris expands so thatwe can see the sacrifices of love compared to the casualties of lust. Andbecause the results in both cases tend to be violent, were asked to consider how similar the twoimpulses really arehow a visceral passion is sometimes just filled withviscera, no matter how we define it. To drive that point home, this episodebursts with characters who are hunting. And I dont mean hunting for meaningin their lives. I mean they are actually hunting other living creatures, bethey wolves, humans, shifters, or Sookie. The addition of all this huntingand insome cases, the capturingfeels absolutely appropriate for this point in theseason. There are only four episodes left, so nows the time to make good onthe promises of action weve gotten all summer. Nows the time for the cockedpistols to be fired, and the results are exhilarating. For instance as youve probably noticed, Ive long been dubious about the Bill/Sookie relationship, but this week, theirbloody make-up sex feels loaded with purpose. After breaking up at thebeginning of the episode, amidst sensible claims that theyre terrible for eachother, they find themselves hurled together in Grans house, fighting offattackers. And sure, Jessicas there for a minute, helping them battlewerewolves, but at the end, its just Bill and Sookie, Sookie and Bill, standing bloody in a bombed-out parody of a cozy family home. Its a great image, because if theyregoing to love each other, Bill and Sookie have to sacrifice calm and normallives. And how do they react to that realization? By getting freaky, yall. Like, frizzy-frizz freaky. Right there on the floor, surrounded by broken glassand blood and probably bits of fur. And yes, yes, yes I realize this could beBill and Sookies break-up sex and that next week, they could be separatedforever so that Sookie can stop just flirting with Alcide and start activelyhitting it. I mean, to me, it seems like Bill and Sookies scromping justconfirms my theory from last week that the show will never let them stay apart, but I understand that there are Charlaine Harris novels and internet spoilersand interviews with Alan Ball that contradict me. But just so Im clear: I dont use thosesources to absorb and analyze this show. Ive decided to experience True Blood dvdentirely by itself. Thats partly a matter of taste and time, but its mostlybecause I think its more fun to be surprised every week and not know whatscoming. (Im certain that many viewers are in the same position Im in justtaking it episode by episode. ) If you really really really think Im a doofusfor doing that, and if you really really really think that my approach totallyinvalidates my critiques, then Im not going to argue with you. But Im notgoing to change my approach either, so lets agree to disagree. Anyway lets get back to the fun stuff. Because while I was on that tangent, Eric successfully hunted Talbot, gotnaked with him, licked his inner thigh, made my blood pressure rise aboutthirty points, and then staked Talbot through the back. DAMN. Oh, and heimplied that hes had plenty of sex with men. See I love that. On one level, its trashyand hot, but on another, it just continues to expand our understanding of SirViking. Now that his revenge plot is fully in motion, who will he become? Icant wait to find out. And now that Jessica seems to havesacrificed her love for Hoytif only because she thinks she doesnt deservehimwhat will happen to her? Youll notice that she ended the episode byhunting, too, and it was no accident that Hoyt unwittingly drove past her asshe killed a werewolf who was begging for his life. It was like watching her humanitygo down the road as she succumbed to darkness. Now, I think Jessicas still gottoo much soul to be a total monster by next week, but its interesting thatshes giving over to darkness more and more. (And may I add how much I enjoyedher Matrix training with Bill? And their awesomely corny No way/Wayexchange about Bill and Sookies break-up? )Back on the hunting tip: Lafayettes mamais hunting him down so she can protect him. Shes sacrificing her own safetyand comfort in order to keep him safe from the people she just knows arelooking for him. And what does her hunting lead to, at least indirectly? Sexbetween Lafayette and Jesus. This relationship is bubbling up from some verytwisted events, so Ive got to believe its going to get complicated very soon. Likewise, Id wager Crystal and Jasonarent going anywhere but downhill. Theyre both putting themselves in dangerto be together. Plus, thanks to Crystal, Jasons hunting the shifter meth-headsand the shifter meth-heads are hunting him. From a writing perspective, I appreciatehow the shifter meth-heads are pulling Sam and Tommy into Jason and Crystalsstory. The brothers make a great teamloose-cannon energy coupled with wearymaturityand Id love to see them battle evil as a team. Dog & Dog vs. MethDog. Thats a movie I would watch. Id also watch a complete series aboutArlene. I loved this weeks dream sequence with ReneCeven if I think the seriesrelies on dreams sequences too muchbecause it pointed out that while shesterrified of being hurt by vampires, Arlene is also carrying the child of aserial killer. The queen doth discriminate too much! Plus, its clear that thenew waitress Holly has some kind of magic, I can tell youre pregnant power, so Arlenes going to have to face her anti-ability prejudices very soon. But lets get back to the movies. After Dog& Dog vs. Meth Dog, Id definitely pay for the sequel: V-Wolf vs. FairyGirl. Because seriously? That fight between Debbie and Sookie is one of thewildest things Ive seen on TV. Sookie breaks a mirror with Debbies head! Thenshe cuts her in the face with scissors! And then Debbie punches her in the jaw! And all along, you can tell that the series is reveling in the prison-girlexcess. And that kind of excess deserves respect. Thats why V-Wolf vs. Fairy Girl is this weeks Sucker Punch.Topics related articles:
