Toshiba has decided to introduce WiMAX capability in their Portégé R700 notebook
Toshiba aims to usher in the world of 4G connectivity by introducing WiMAX capability in their Portégé R700 notebook. In fact, Toshiba has a couple of 4G WiMAX-ready models of the Portégé R700 for the masses, where this 13.3-inch full-performance ultraportable notebook is touted to be the world’s lightest even when it comes with an integrated DVD drive. Not only that, the new Portégé R700 models will also provide business users with unprecedented performance and durability without sacrificing on form factor, which is perfect for those who do plenty of traveling.
According to Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division “Now with a WiMAX-enabled Portégé R700, Toshiba business professionals will be able to enjoy the benefits of having citywide connectivity at their fingertips. 4G WiMAX coverage continues to rapidly grow and offers millions of people wireless access in many major metropolitan areas across the US. Now with a WiMAX-enabled Portégé R700, Toshiba business professionals will be able to enjoy the benefits of having citywide connectivity at their fingertips.”
Just in case you were wondering, WiMAX is currently available in 54 cities throughout the US, and is tipped to make an appearance in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Minneapolis, New York and Pittsburgh before the year is over. The Portégé R700 will tip the scales at a mere 3 pounds, measuring an inch thin while running on Intel’s latest Core family of full-powered processors accompanied by an ExpressCard slot,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an eSATA/USB combo port with Sleep-and-Charge,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a built-in DVD SuperMulti drive and Webcam. You will be able to pick up the WiMAX-enabled Portégé R700-S1332W for $1,699 while the Portégé R700-S1322W is more affordable at $1,349. Sounds like it is pretty expensive, but you can’t really complain too much where business-oriented models are in the picture,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], eh?
