"Kids come to the club not necessarily to participate in the clubs we offer, but to see that positive adult they know at the club."
So parents and caregivers took a few hours Friday to spend time with young people at the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Foundation Day for Kids at the west-side Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay, 311 S. Oneida St., Green Bay.

Wicklund said many parents work two jobs or late hours and don't have the time to spend with their children. It's up to all adults in the community to fill in the gaps,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she said.
It's the first year the foundation has sponsored the event, and organizers plan to make it an annual partnership.
"The focus of the event is to give adults the opportunity to take a break and spend some meaningful time with children, and let children know they are valued," said Johanna Wicklund, director of program development.
The festivities were a part of hundreds of Day for Kids events planned nationwide.
"Kids who don't feel that support often make negative choices or do things that are not healthy," she said.
Adults spending only 15 minutes a day with young people can have a lasting impact as they gain self-esteem and set goals, Wicklund said.
An estimated 400 people attended the event that featured an obstacle course, pingpong challenge and cookie decorating.
