Paul Gauguin’s purpose was to transform the values within paintings to personal Jordan 13 XIII, metaphoric images jordans for women, identifiable in appearance but figurative in meaning. As seen in Two Tahitian Women (1899), his art displays radiant colors in a primitive environment. In this painting, two Tahitian women were untouched by the impact of the European colonization. In the Yellow Christ (1889), Gauguin’s use of radiant colors, such as the dominant yellow in Christ himself, made the picture more vivid. He also used symbolism portraying the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The artist Georges-Pierre Seurat in his painting Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte (1886) illustrated a new order of composition. In this painting, Seurat shows a crowd on a Sunday afternoon at a public park. This work was indeed a masterpiece in that Seurat systematically simplified all natural forms and modified them to create pure design. Seurat used small dots of pure colors and tones referred to as pointillism. The scientific aspect involved understanding the perception of light and color. He was remarkably systematic in his method of color and design.
Post-Impressionism took place between 1884 and 1903. Resistance to academic control prevailed throughout the Impressionist period. This period was also referred to as (Neoimpressionist). Such artists as Georges-Pierre Seurat and Paul Gauguin followed in the suit of emphasizing color and light however noted its limitations in that it lacked scientific discipline. Van Gogh expressed his artistic individuality while embracing a “…greater concern for expression, structure and form.” (Museum Quality. Art History Air Jordans 2011, accessed on 09/12/2010)
When we think of modern art, we think about paintings and sculptures within the contemporary world. These visual art forms can be concrete or abstract, engaging or appalling, vivid or solemn, but each reflects the artist’s concept of how he envisions the world. Within the world of modern art, movements emerged that reflected the times. One of those movements that will be discussed is Post-Impressionism.
