Ditch The Resolutions
Are you bored of the 'New Year, New You' articles everywhere yet? There are a lot of gizmos and gadgets out there relying on the fact that we are all feeling a bit bloated and sluggish right now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and will be setting ourselves a whole long list of 'shoulds' in the very near future!
This year - DON'T DO IT!!
Honestly, give the resolutions a miss this year - and every year! There really is a much better way...
And before all that, here are a few top tips to remind you how NOT to feel totally horrendous by Jan 1st (mild hangover notwithstanding... ) which in itself lends itself to the 'I'm never eating / drinking / whatevering ever again' itis that gets us forking out on ridiculous products that we will never use (and which don't work anyway! ).
1. Drink lots of water - and start right now! It's easy to forget when we're so busy eating and drinking other stuff, which is of course another benefit, as not only does it help detoxify the bad stuff, it means that you are fuller and less thirsty so will quell the intake too!
2. Take milk thistle. Honestly, this stuff is really good for assisting liver function, the liver is what gets taxed when we eat and drink toxins & it is what enables us to metabolise fat, too. If you are planning a period of increased alcohol intake it is worth taking for a month before hand, and worth taking throughout the party season and afterwards, too. I notice the difference immediately - I have the liquid in water, as well as a powder I add to my daily superfood extravaganza as it is generally good to keep the liver in tip top condition.
3. Take gorgeous long walks whatever the weather with the family, a dog, or even a random, but avoid taking anyone too slow as a brisk walk is best! Find hills to storm up, make it an interval style walk, to increased fitness (and fat burning) benefits! Wrap up according to the weather and get out there. You will soon realise bad weather is actually a whole lot WORSE from the inside of a car, or when looking out from a warm inside. Getting out there and getting moving will invigorate you and offset the sluggishness from too much indoorness and central heating too.
4. Have at least one super awesome salad every day! Yes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I know, it's winter, surely I can't eat salad.... Hmmm, just give it a try, add some hot elements like an omelette, chicken breast, roasted veg and enjoy a bit of summer sunshine and life force increasing nutrients in your day! If you are off work, you have a fab excuse to take more time over breakfast or lunch, so why not replace the tired old cereal with something that is going to set your day off with a zing?
5. Do an intense, bodyweight or resistance based interval workout at least every other day, or even a shorter one every day. Check out the link below where you can access some free online bodyweight workouts.
This will raise your metabolism, make you feel energised, and improve immunity too,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!

6. Take time to take stock of all you have achieved in 2010, and begin to think about what you would like to achieve in 2011.
Express gratitude at all the wonderful things that you have to be grateful for, and express appreciation deep in your hearts. Only by focussing on the positives can we ensure more of the positive happens.
Focus on the things you WANT to achieve and then use that to frame your goals, and to set intentions about what you will do to achieve those goals. What you WILL DO, not what you WON'T do, or SHOULDN'T do, or MUST do.... Ditch the negative words right now!
You can re-create a new reality for yourself in 2011, there is no doubt about that. You can take small steps forwards and ease off yourself when you take what seems to be steps back - life happens in cycles, seasons,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], tidal ebbs and flows and we are part of that. Right now is a perfect time to re-evaluate and take stock, to recharge and regenerate, and to get excited about what the New Year has in store.
Life is far too short to be living a life of 'must do this' & 'shouldn't do that'. Life is too short to not be fit, vibrant, energised and content.
When we realise it is possible to have ALL of these things, that our load gets lightened - and so do we. Literally, we lose the baggage mentally and physically!
I refer to the '4 Pillars': Movement, Nourishment, Breath & Hydration - the 4 things we need when we think we need 'energy'! Sugar or calorific energy is not lacking (hence our stores! ) but being able to mobilise that energy is the problem.
