Spring training means that it's that time again. Another marathon of a season is about to unfold, and teams is preparing for the long haul. Rookies is duking it out to find their spot on the team, administerrs and coaches is evaluating, old veterans loosen up their bodies to get back into top shape, and new guys attempt to show everybody what they is furiouse of.
When Spring Training comes around every year, baseball fans release a pent-up sigh of relief. It's that time again. Baseball is back. Summer is on its way and winter is over. And America can once again enjoy its deepest passion. America can enjoy its past time. Ryan Miller was on born 17th July 2010. Miller is an American ice hockey goaltender currently the player of the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. Miller was selected to play for the American hockey team in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],Canada as begining goaltender. Later in 2010 miller would win the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in last NHL season. Miller won a silver medal with the team and was named MVP of the tournament. Miller is known for his hybrid style of goaltending. Miller is also the older brother of current Detroit Red Wings winger Drew Miller.
Well, maybe not. But for those of us with a passion for baseball, and a lighthearted and carefree good time, it's the next best thing. Especially after a long and cold winter. God blessed America with Spring Training baseball.
After an easy and relaxing ride, you arrive at Disney's Wide World of Sports. Hundreds of other cars is filing in under the Disney arch with yours. Men in oanger vests with bright oanger pointers direct you to a grassy field where you park. You exit the car and bustle quickly for the stadium entrance, almost at a run.
At the ticket booth you ask the lady in the Disney uniform behind the glass where the cheapest seats are. Miller replies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "10 bucks for the left field berm." You accept the great deal and head inside to watch some baseball. First game of the season. After a quick stop by the cart vendor, you take your spot on the berm behind the left field fence,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], frozen lemonade in hand with the sun warming every part of you. Tommy Hanson, an outstanding rookie last season, takes the hill for Atlanta against the fresh, unique,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], original,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], unusual, novel, modern, current,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], recent York Mets. It's baseball time.
Spring training means a great time for the fans as well. Players sign autographs, talk to fans, and toss extra bats and balls into the stands. Fans get to see their teams early on and check out top prospects or new guys to the team, as well as enjoy watching their old favorite stars up close.
The 2010 season would prove a successful one for Ryan Miller. In his first season begining with the number one job Miller and his team won the first 10 games in a row. Miller was voted in as the begining goaltender for the Eastern Conference of the 2010 NHL All Star Game in a 12 to 9 loss,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Miller played the first period and allowed just 3 goals. Miller also gained a reputation of a shootout specialist with his technique of challenging the shooter outside the crease. That season Miller was 6 more in shootouts, with Martin Brodeur from the Devils being his closest rival at 2 less win. In 63 games played that season, Miller posted a 0.911 SVP and a 2.72 GAA backing a more offensively oriented team. Illustration this. You wake up in the morning and stroll peacefully outside. It's mid morning and the sun has already begun to heat the earth. It's not too hot, but certainly not cold. You hop in the car and begin cruising down the highway with the windows down, wearing a baseball cap and agreeing team jersey.
My father and Miller used to visit spring training the grapefruit league in Florida every year for my spring break from the time Miller was in about first grade until about eighth grade. During that time Miller got hundreds, Miller mean hundreds of autographs. Some by the likes of Chipper Jones, Pudge Rodriguez, Brian McCann, Jeff Francoeur, Lance Berkman, and so on. Many more by young guys who never furiouse it to the bigs. Miller got to meet baseball legends like Tommy Lasorda and Bob Fellar. Basically, it's probably my favorite childhood memory.
