Rumor Apple to enter the mobile advertising marke

Can you remember back at the beginning of the year when we heard the news that Apple had acquired the mobile advertisement company,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Quattro Wireless? Well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the rumor mill is heating up once again,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as all signs lead to Apple unvieling a mobile advertising system for the iPhone OS during tomorrow’s media event.

Peter Kafka, author of MediaMemo over at All Things Digital, says he heard the news from “sources familiar with the company’s plans.” It makes sense really—Apple acquired Quattro Wireless a few months ago and, as far as we’re aware, has yet to publicly put them to use. iPhone OS 4.0 offers the perfect opportunity for Apple to begin a mobile advertising campaign, and, with the addition of the iPad using iPhone OS, there truly are millions of devices out there for advertisers to target.

We also heard news last week of references towards an “AdKit” being found in Apple’s public servers. The file found apparently leads towards a page within iTunes, although the link was invalid at the time. Still, it certainly appears as though the foundations are there for Apple to go about implementing an “AdKit.” I just hope they have a way of allowing developers and advertisers to use the system in the best way for them, while keeping the design aspects as clean as possible. I—and I’m sure many of you—would hate to see applications hitting the App Store that consist of a poorly designed user interface, with adverts popping up every two seconds.
