It's not just about the NGP. Actually,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we lie. It is all about the NGP: one story ruled above them all this week and that was the unveiling of Sony's successor to the PSP. Not that there wasn't room for controversy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], court orders and announcements in the news, and the industry supplied an undercurrent of intrigue that supported Sony's star turn.
Case Against Geohotz Hots up.
Sony might be positioning itself to win the next round of the handheld war, but it had a victory this week that could prove just as significant. as the renowned hacker was ordered to hand over PS3 security circumvention technology as well as to cease distributing it. The temporary restraining order, which extended to various other hacking groups [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is great news in the short term though it's unlikely that it'll stem the PS3 hacks; the internet, after all, won't bow down to a mere court order.
Prince and the Pauper
While Sony enjoyed a week in the limelight, Microsoft and Nintendo were subject to contrasting fortunes as the pair filed financial reports for the quarter just gone. Microsoft's report surel Final Fantasy XIV power leveling y would have got a gold star from Steve Ballmer, and it was the Entertainment and Devices division that proved best in class. Thanks in no small part to the offloading of some 8 million Kinect units,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Microsoft helping the company as a whole to a record quarter.
Conversely , with dwindling sales of the Wii and DS seeing it slump 46% on the results recorded Final Fantasy XIV gold in the same period last year. The 3DS's imminent launch will surely see Nintendo given the boost they need C and pre-orders are pointing to a successful launch C but it'll be interesting to see if the tailing off of the Wii's sales force its hand when it comes to announcing its successor. Will E3 host our first look at Nintendo's next generation of home hardware FinalFantasy XIV account ? With the 3DS likely to take centre stage once more it's unlikely,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but don't be surprised to hear Nintendo's plans before the year is out.
Sony and the New Power Generation
By which point some of us will be enjoying Sony's successor to the PSP. Rather unimaginatively and unattractively codenamed the NGP
After well over a year of rumours, leaks and specula Final Fantasy XIV Gil tion there was little that was a surprise C dual analogue sticks feature,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as does a touch screen complemented by a touch pad on the rear. The lack of any real revelations over its specs didn't do much to blunt the spectacle of seeing the likes of Uncharted up and running on it.however, and those lucky enough to get their hands on it attest it's a hugely desirabl FFXIV power leveling e bit of kit.
Amidst the shock and awe of a hardware reveal it was some of the finer details that made for the most interesting reading. , the NGP's slick new interface, was front and centre of the experience and potentially spells the end of the cross-media bar that's been ubiquitous across Sony's devices in recent years, while was one novel way to even FFXIV account the odds in the scrap with Apple's own portables - by getting the entire Android market to fight by Sony's side.
It was a smart move that may prove one of the more significant of Thursday's announcements, though whether it's enough to wrest the power away from Nintendo and Apple remains to be seen as the portable war is waged over the coming months and years
